Introducing Ver~Pensar~Actuar, the BorderLinks Alumni Newsletter

Current Issue: Spring 2009 (high resolution)

Archived Issues: October 2008March 2008

We created this publication as a way for BorderLinks program participants to continue their education and involvement in response to the issues they faced here in the borderlands.  “See~Think~Act,” the model that guides our popular education work, is a cycle that continuously repeats and builds upon itself.  The experiences we facilitate at the border are just one step in this ongoing process of lifelong learning, and we recognize that returning home can be a disorientating part of the BorderLinks journey.  Staying informed and deciding next steps can be difficult when participants find themselves away from the border and back in their home communities.

Ver~Pensar~Actuar is a venue where past participants can share responses to their border-related experiences, such as photos, continued written reflections, and actions they are taking as a result of their time with BorderLinks.

We also hope that Ver-Pensar-Actuar can serve as a forum for posting and learning about upcoming events throughout the United States and beyond, including activities organized by past participants themselves.  BorderLinks groups hail from all over, and our calendar section aims to connect them with each other and with ways to get involved in their own geographic area.  Check it out and see what is happening near you!

Additionally, we want to keep you updated on what is going on at the border.  The situation here is constantly changing, and many want to stay informed about the socio-political reality of migration, globalization, and militarization.  Ver~Pensar~Actuar will include articles on relevant policies, current events, and other news.

Though designed for past program participants, the main objective of Ver~Pensar~Actuar is education, and we believe that others interested in border issues and the work we do here at BorderLinks will gain something from it as well.
