Andy Nichols Award for Social Justice

Andy Nicholas Award

BorderLinks has been named the 2009 recipient of the Andy Nichols Award for Social Justice.  The award is given by the Arizona-Mexico Commission for persistent service in pursuit of social justice.

The Arizona-Mexico Commission (AMC) is Arizona’s premiere cross-border nonprofit organization whose  mission is to improve the well-being and quality of life for residents of Arizona by promoting a strong, cooperative relationship with Mexico and Latin America through advocacy, trade, networking and information.

The Andy Nichols Award for social justice is given in honor of Andrew W. Nichols, MD, MPH. Dr. Nichols was a visionary who lived a life of service in pursuit of justice and health for all, and most specifically, for the disadvantaged. For all of us who had the privilege of working with him, Andy Nichols was an inspirational colleague, mentor and friend.

The Andy Nichols Award for Social Justice is given to an individual, a specific project, or an organization that exemplifies his vision and persistent service in pursuit of social justice.  Congratulations to BorderLinks for being the 2009 winner of the award.
