The big news is that our dream of purchasing the Casa Misericordia in Nogales is a reality.

More than four hundred people contributed with gifts of five to fifty thousand dollars. We raised over three hundred thousand dollars to purchase, renovate and expand the work of the Casa, and to provide a secure financial base for the rest of work.

Jeff and Karen Jones of Charlotte made a $50,000 investment in our program over three years. This was the gift that assurred the success of the Casa purchase. This has been followed by a gift of $100,000 from Bob and Bobbie Grimm of Buffalo, NY. Most of this money is aimed at developing the Casa property as we work to open a child care center and develop plans for the international encuentros. The Grimms are also concerned that the programs of support and empowerment for the neighbors of the Casa be expanded and strengthened. These gifts will help to develop our mission of capacitation in Mexico.

The Carl and Fay Gates Family Foundation of Wilmington, Delaware sent us $10,000 for the support of our educational program. The Barney II Fund, a family fund of Bill and Sabra Reichardt of Syracuse, NY contributed $10,000 as a challenge/matching grant to help us raise a total of $40,000 to renovate the chapel. This will create a multi-purpose space to house the new child day-care program in addition to worship space. We have yet to construct a new kitchen before opening this program. The Diocese of St Cloud and the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church of Minnesota and Pennsylvania respectively, have entered into partnership with gifts of $10,000 each to support the Bi-National Internship Program.

BorderLinks is deeply grateful to these families, institutions, and to all of our supporters for their help which allows us to keep our fees at a level that is affordable by our participants and, at the same time, expand our work in Mexico.

We depend on you.
