We depend so much on your gifts and donations

If you have just returned here after making a donation, thank you for your contribution. Your transaction has been completed, and a receipt for your donation has been emailed to you.

As our sense of mission and our educational and community work expand, so do our responsibilities. Our annual budget is now $500,000. We depend on donations from you and other individuals and churches to provide 30% - roughly $150,000 per year - of that income. Our other sources of income are fees from our programs (60%) and grants (10%).

Your gifts enliven our spirits as we face the daily risk of burnout and despair in the face of the overwhelming need of the people we serve. We need you! That's no small thing.

BorderLinks is in this for the long haul. Our work began in 1987 with Central American refugees. It has deepened into a long-term presence in the colonias of the Mexican border communities and our commitment to provide experiential education for people from the developed countries as we learn how our life-styles are draining energy and resources out of the un-developed countries. The work is in the journey, not the destination.

We are a 501(c)3 organization under the Internal Revenue Service tax code which means that all contributions are tax deductible. We will acknowledge each gift which will provide the donor with appropriate tax information.

Special Announcement: The Congress has given BorderLinks a gift! For 2006 and 2007 a gift can be made directly from an IRA.

Please consider how you might help.

  1. Please talk about BorderLinks and encourage groups of youth and adult participants -- this helps us carry out our mission and pays 60% of our operating costs.

  2. Send as generous a donation as you can. Alternatives besides cash include gifts of stock and mutual funds or creating a charitable annuity.

  3. Consider making a tax deductible contribution to our operating budget: (If you would like to designate this for a particular part of the program, please eMail Cruz@borderlinks.org with that directive)

  4. Make a targeted contribution to a special fund such as the Emergency Fund. The Emergency Fund continues to be a critical need. The operating budget is still at the mercy of the unevenness of program fees. It is our intent to have this fund available to cover two months of expenses.

  5. Speak to church social action committees (or invite one of the BorderLinks' staff to come and make a presentation) and add us to their regular mission support groups.

  6. Make a donation of equipment. This goes all the way from used cars in driveable condition to office equipment and computers.

  7. Have you heard about the BorderLinks Anniversary Blessing Fund? It's a special way to remember anniversaries of graduations, weddings, deaths and births as well as birthdays of spouses, children and grandchildren. Last year we had over forty donors to the Anniversary Blessings Fund.

  8. As you think about your estate planning, consider leaving a legacy that will carry on the peace and justice work long after you have gone. BorderLinks, through the Semprevida Club (our Endowment Fund), uses these gifts to ensure its financial viability so as to continue providing a link between the global economy and the global community.

Thanks for the strength you offer us to continue the journey!

We depend on you.
