A gift that keeps on giving

Would you like to make a significant gift to BorderLinks, but you're worried about giving up income-producing assets?
Well, here's the solution: a gift annuity!

Gift annuities can provide:
  • guaranteed income for the donor,
  • a current tax deduction for the donor, and
  • a gift for the work of BorderLinks in perpetuity.
Here's how it works: you donate a sum of money to BorderLinks structured as an irrevocable trust. During your lifetime you will receive guaranteed income from that donation at a rate specified at the time of donation.

Since the money is a charitable donation rather than an investment, you will receive tax benefits. For example, a significant portion of the gift qualifies as a tax deduction for the donor in the year it is made. This helps reduce both income tax liabilities and the actual cost of making the gift.

Charitable annuities can be set up with many variations, so the details need to be worked out with a financial advisor. She or he can explain the alternatives you have, the advantages to you, and the value of the gift for BorderLinks.

The trust for a charitable annuity, in the case of BorderLinks, can be established through the Community Foundation of Southern Arizona. They will administer trusts of $10,000 or greater.

This may be just the solution to your wish to help BorderLinks while continuing to meet your financial needs.
