A special way to celebrate an anniversary

A while back a friend of ours sent a check - for $58 - payable to BorderLinks. The note with the check said that on special anniversaries of graduations, weddings, deaths and births as well as birthdays of spouses, children and grandchildren, he and his wife select a cause and send a check somehow symbolic of the blessings represented by the occasion.

The checks, he said, are not large, in multiples of one or ten dollars usually, but are a way of saying 'thank you' to God. He also encouraged us to establish an Anniversary Blessings Fund for BorderLinks to offer supporters the opportunity to make contributions as these special anniversaries occur.

So here it is: The BorderLinks Anniversary Blessings Fund!

Moneys received will be deposited in the Emergency Fund, an account which is held apart from the operating fund to be used during those times of the year when our income does not keep up with expenses. We would like to have an amount equal to two months operating funds in this account .

During 2005 we had one hundred and seven donors to the Anniversary Blessings Fund honoring a person, a date or an event with a gift to BorderLinks. All donations are tax deductible.

Send us an eMail (Cruz@borderlinks.org) and share the reference for your celebration gift.

Let's count our blessings.

And thanks to Ellis and Peggy Scripture for the idea.

We depend on you.
