In 2006 Congress passed a new law providing a tax incentive for making donations from IRA accounts. Now, anyone 70 ½ and older can donate up to $100,000 each year for two years, 2006 and 2007, to BorderLinks, tax free, directly from their IRA.

Any amount up to $100,000 can be donated each year

The gift can satisfy your minimum required distribution, reducing your reportable income

Gifts can be made to endowment funds

The gift must be made directly to the charitable organization. Send this form to the trustee of your IRA account to provide mailing instructions for gifts directly to BorderLinks

Note that some states may limit the IRA gift deductibility for state taxes

Note again that donors must be 70 ½ years old and that this ‘charitable IRA’ gift opportunity is only available in 2006 and 2007.

You have worked hard to provide financial stability for your retirement. With the condition of the economy and the stock market, it has become advantageous to consider a gift directly from IRAs. Rainy Day Fund (A more liquid fund of $100,000, an amount equal to 4 months operating funds)
