Educational Philosophy

Education at its best combines academic study and reflection with direct personal experience, respects all people as potential teachers, acknowledges complexity and refuses to be satisfied by oversimplification, is enriched by learning in community, and encourages each participant to act on what he or she has learned.

Organizational Philosophy

BorderLinks is committed to the principles of consensual decision making and to assuring that there will always be room in the decision-making process for our board and staff, program partners on both sides of the border, and program participants. Our work together is founded on trust in one another, team-building and effective delegation of tasks to match each person's skills and passion.

Cross-Border Staffing

BorderLinks has
a multinational staff located at two headquarters on either side of the border -- one in Tucson (USA) and the other in Nogales (Mexico). They are trained in experiential education techniques and are experts in border issues. Our staff works in teams, typically with one person from Mexico and one from the US designing and facilitating each experience.
